Ori’s first post
I have ignored my duty to blog while I dealt with grad school end-of-term madness, but now that I am officially finished school (!!), I thought I had better hop to it. And now, I actually have something to blog about – last night, I purchased my ticket to Venice. I fly with Air Canada on August 10 from Halifax to London, then London to Venice. Kyle and I will spend several weeks there, and perhaps a week traveling throughout Italy, before starting our Camino on September 1 in Le Puy-en-Velay, France.
I think I have also finished outfitting myself for the Camino – after several shopping trips to Mountain Equiptment Co-op, I have light-weight, quick-dry clothing, hikers, and many more (light!) things for the pilgrimage. This is the part of the trip for which I am most excited: as a medievalist, I have always known about the Camino, but I was very excited to hear that people are still walking it 1,000 years later. I am going to do as much reading about the historical Camino as I can before leaving my wonderful University of Toronto library system in July. Perhaps I will share some interesting Camino facts in the coming weeks!
